Workshops

 

'Bringing Your Life to Life' -  (Artists In Education Grant workshops for both 2013/2014 & 2012/2013 school years.) Students have the opportunity to relive and reenact certain funny and/or interesting life experiences through mime, tableaux and speaking theatre.  Students will explore theatre games, creative movement, original use of props and improvisation.  Some basic theatre techniques will be taught: e.g. understanding body language, communicating through everyday gestures, mime, silent acting, clear verbal communication, developing skits, stage presence etc.  Students will delight in acting out their unforgettable incidents in small groups and in turn take pleasure in being part of and watching other learners' life occurrences.  

For ages: 6 years and older

 

‘Life is a Stage’ Workshop: (Artist in Education Grant workshop for 2011/2012 school year.) Students experience some basics of theatre through theatre games, mime & creative movement, clear verbal communication, original use of props, improvisation, skit development, stage presence, while understanding how theatre is comprised of our everyday life experiences.

For ages: 6 years and older.

 

No Need to Speak’ Workshop - (Artist in Education Grant workshops for both 2009/2010 and 2008/2009 school years.) Students learn novel non-verbal ways to express themselves through theatre games, mime technique, body movement, body language, improvisation and skits. 

For ages: 6 years and older.

 

Mixed Bag of Drama’ - (Artist in Education Grant workshop for both 2003/2004 and 2002/2003 school years.) Students explore a range of dramatic arts which includes creative drama, mime and mask.

For ages: 6 years and older.

 

‘Circus’ Workshop -(Artist in Education Grant workshop for both 2000/2001 and 1999/2000 school years.) Students enjoy learning circus skills (stilts, unicycling, juggling and more), mime and clowning then create their own circus acts. 

For ages: 9 years and older.

  

Classes

 

Creative Drama: Combines acting basics with theatre games, mime and movement, improvisation, skits and original use of props.

For ages: 6 and older.

 

Mime:  Students learn new forms of expression through mime technique, body gestures, improvisation and skits.

For ages 6 and older.

 

Mask:  Students learn to bring masks to life through mask techniques, body movement, mime and skits. This workshop is a great way to extend a mask-making project.

For ages 6 and older.

 

*Note:  All workshops that take place over 4 or more days culminate in an informal student performance.
